Ways to Help

Making a Financial Donation to EAA: - The Emergency Aid Association depends on the generosity of its residents, businesses and religious and civic organizations to help underwrite the costs of our health and social service programs. Click the link to read our Annual Appeal Letter.

Donating Gifts of Stock: The Emergency Aid Association welcomes gifts of stocks and securities. These gifts may result in a tax savings. To inquire about making a tax-deductible donation please call the Emergency Aid Association at (860) 668-1986.

Volunteer: The EAA utilizes volunteers to assist in the many capacities, including delivering Meals-On-Wheels, assisting with food pantry donations, raising funds through the Salvation Army Kettle Drive, serving as Friendly Shoppers and Friendly Visitors and driving people to medical appointments. Other, less regular needs for volunteers arise throughout the year.

Donate Food: The food pantry relies heavily on donations to sustain its inventory. Donations of non-perishable food, personal items and cleaning products are welcome throughout the year. Donations can be dropped off during regular business hours or by appointment. View a list of needed items

Donate Pet Food: The EAA tries to maintain an ample supply of pet food. When finances are strained, pets suffer too! We welcome all types of cat and dog food!

Donate Durable Medical Equipment: The EAA maintains a small inventory of durable medical items for free loan to residents. Residents wishing to donate their unneeded durable medical equipment are encouraged to do so. Items must be clean and in good condition. Items that are appropriate include, canes, walkers, bath seats, commodes, crutches, wheelchairs and transport chairs.

Sponsor a Family for the Holidays: The EAA identifies families that are in need for the holidays. These families are matched confidentially with a holiday “sponsor.” Sponsors can opt to sponsor the family for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas and can decide if they prefer to provide food and/or gifts.

Helping in the Garden: In the spring and summer, the EAA maintains a vegetable garden to supplement the food pantry. While we are delighted to have this healthy food option, there is a need for weeders!

Donate Backpack Supplies: Filled backpacks are distributed in August of each year to youth living in low-income Suffield homes. We are in need of backpack supplies, including, pencils, pens, rulers, ruled paper, calculators, page dividers, glue stick, glue, index cards, erasers, pencil sharpeners, highlighters, scissors, 1-inch binders and spiral notebooks.
